 Who is your Teacher?

Hello! My name is Zoé Martínez Salas and I’ll be your piano teacher. I have been working in piano teaching for more than 5 years online as well as offline. I have worked with people of all ages and all interests as well as people from all around the world.

I started my journey with piano at a young age where I got into latin and folk music back in Colombia but when it was time to get my Bachelor degree I decided to risk everything and travel to Russia where I studied under the tutoring of Professor Alyona Vladimirovna at the Belgorod State Institute of Art and Culture, there I played 4 years with the Big Band and participated in different jazz and classical festivals.

On my return to Colombia I had the opportunity to play at the Bogota Tango Orchestra and with the Big Band Fernando Sor where we had the chance to play with artists such as pianist and percussionist Eddy Martinez and with the singer Cesar Mora.

During all this time I worked with the Chinese music academy VIP Peilian where I had over 30 students from all around the world where we prepared for international piano exams and also school recitals. After working with this academy I decided to have a more personal approach for students' needs and wishes, and although I also work as a music composer too, teaching piano is one of my passions, seeing how students improve class to class is something very rewarding.

Experiences

Zoe is a very talented instructor, my daughter has learned how to understand and appreciate music. She has been practicing with him for almost two years. Zoe has patients, he sings and plays the music for her and helps her find different feelings of music. Once he changed the end of a piece to one of her favorite movie’s song to make her love to play. My daughter likes his class.
— Ms. Ziang, Cánada
Hello, my name is Markus, and I have been learning with Mr. Martinez for about a year and a half now. In that time, I improved a lot with him. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher because he is really understandable, he’s really nice, and he really helps you when playing the piano.
— Markus, USA
Zoe, you were a great teacher, I loved the online concerts we did together! You taught me a lot about the emotion and feeling in a piece and you were like a friend, not just a teacher. You also taught me about my incorrect spots and how to improve. Thank you!
— Ellie, Canada
My 8 year old daughter had a really hard time to keep up with the piano lesson and practices during pendemic, because all classes are online. We have tried several teachers, none could keep her attention. After we switch to teacher Zoe, my daughter was not only able to learn from him, but she really enjoyed him as a teacher. Teacher Zoe has excellent skill and enthusiasm, he is kind, friendly and patient and has a wonderful ability to relate to people. He has vast musical experience, is good at accessing a student’s abilities and interests. What I like most is his small chats with my daughter that keep the lesson engaging, by sharing his experience as student.
— Mr. Hairong, Canada

My two sons both enjoy learning piano with Zoe. He is patient, friendly and encouraging. Zoe is professional and observant about details. He can demonstrate when he teaches. We are happy with his approach and the progress they made. Highly recommended!
